Your Job

You will be leading the Relevance Measurement team dedicated to a pervasive problem at Indeed; are the jobs we are showing Job Seekers relevant to their interests? Historically, Indeed has focused on implicit signals suchs applications and dwell time, and explicit signals such as: in-app survey, dislikes, and annotations as a way to gauge Job Seeker relevance. As Indeed focuses on creating higher quality matches, we want to improve our measurement of job to Job Seeker relevance to create a compass for the rest of the company. 

Indeed’s Product Science Managers serve their teams by removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. Our teams delivered challenging technical solutions at scale. We are passionate about applying techniques like statistical inference to products, as well as brainstorming about practical experimental design and technology career development. 

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside product managers and engineering teams to help guide tactical and strategic product decisions for the team, focusing it on the highest impact work
• Coach and grow a team of product and data scientists to develop the skills and develop the career in their preferred direction 
• Create a culture of high performance within the team, both in terms of quality and execution, while importantly, ensuring the work in exciting, engaging and creative for those on the team
• Work with other science managers across Indeed to improve the science function’s practices like hiring, performance management, and team cohesion

Who You Are:

 

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field
• 2+ years of managing a team of data scientists focusing on quantitative analysis
• 7+ years of professional industry experience in Data Science, Business Analytics, or Data Analysis
• Experience coding in Python, R or another advanced data programming language
• Ability to synthesize findings and present them visually and intuitively to tell a story and drive action
• Familiarity with statistical concepts as applied to A/B testing or survey methodologies
• High empathy for end users and how to leverage qualitative as well as quantitative data

• Have worked on survey analysis in industry, ideally for real online products 
• Have worked on A/B testing with real online products about end user changes
• Worked with news feed, search or recommendation systems before

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
